Trevor Zegras and Rick Tocchet met the media after Monday's practice as the Flyers get set to host the Wild on Tuesday.

The timing matters. Philadelphia just snapped a skid with a 6-3 win over Utah on Sunday night, and Travis Konecny was back in the lineup for it.

The Flyers noted that Tocchet and Zegras spoke with reporters following practice at the team's training facility.

What was said isn't part of the team's post, so the focus stays on the ice. Zegras leads the team with 13 points, and he's been in the middle of the lineup experiments since Trevor Zegras got center time last week.

Matvei Michkov is the other name driving this team. He has 10 goals in 16 games and has scored in eight straight, which is a real run for a 21-year-old on a club that has had trouble finding offense.

But the standings are still ugly. The Flyers are 4-8-4 for 12 points, 27th in the NHL and seventh in the Metropolitan Division.

Why the Wild are a tough Tuesday test

Minnesota arrives at 10-3-3, third in the NHL and first in the Central. The Wild also own a +16 goal differential, while Philadelphia sits at -19 with 35 goals for and 54 against.

That gap is the story. The Flyers can score, but 54 goals allowed in 16 games is the number that keeps them near the bottom, and one good night against Utah doesn't erase it.

Still, Sunday gave Tocchet something to build on. Twelve different Flyers picked up a point, Jamie Drysdale had three assists and finished a +5, and Daniel Vladar stopped 19 of 22 shots in the win.

Konecny's return also changes how deep this group looks. His return against Utah came with a goal and an assist.

Tuesday also brings a small piece of team history. The Flyers announced they'll debut their Independence Edition jerseys that night, before heading out on the road.

That road part is where the concern lives. Philadelphia is 1-5-1 away from home, and once the new sweaters come off the hanger Tuesday, the trip begins.
