The Flyers unveiled their Hometown Remix uniforms today and will debut them Tuesday night against the Wild at XMobile Arena.

The team ran the reveal all day on its account and also calls the set its Independence Edition. It opened by calling the uniform "The fabric of Philadelphia."

The Flyers' first post on the reveal set the tone for the day.

The timing works for a team that needed a good night. Philadelphia beat Utah 6-3 on Sunday, and it was a 4-8-4 group sitting on 12 points that walked off the ice smiling.

The club wants fans in the building for the debut, and it has reminded them that the road is coming right after.

The team urged fans not to miss the jersey debut Tuesday night before it hits the road.

That road trip is the part to watch. The Flyers are 3-3-3 at home and 1-5-1 away, so Tuesday is one of the few chances left to bank points on home ice before the schedule turns hostile.

Minnesota isn't an easy draw for a debut. The Wild are 10-3-3 and won 5-1 in Washington on Sunday, and they come in as the better team by a wide margin.

I like the jersey night as a rallying point. But a uniform only gets you so far when the goal differential sits at -19, and the crowd will want to see the Flyers play like they did against Utah, not just look good doing it.

The Rangers also have a remix for Thursday

Philadelphia isn't the only team in new threads. The Rangers revealed their own version of the Hometown Remix jerseys today.

Vince Z. Mercogliano reported that the Rangers are going with a lady liberty hybrid look and will wear them for the first time Thursday at home against the Flyers.

That makes Thursday the first look at both teams in the new uniforms. For Philadelphia it also lands right as the road swing begins.

The Rangers arrive on a rough stretch. They've lost four straight, the latest a 4-1 home loss to Edmonton on Sunday, though they are 6-2-0 at home this season.

So the Flyers get a home test against Minnesota, then a trip to a New York team that has been strong in its own building but is searching for answers. How the Flyers handle that first road game will say plenty about whether the Utah win was a one-night burst.
